EA Initial Enrollment Cycle ends 12/31/19

CPE Requirements for Initial Enrollment Cycle if your:

Social Security number ends in 4, 5, or 6 and
Initial enrollment date is between 11/01/16 and 10/31/19

Due date of renewal: 01/31/20

Effective date of renewal: 04/01/20

CPE Reporting period: 11/01/16 to 12/31/19

Partial months: Enrollment for any part of a month is considered enrollment for the entire month

Ethics course requirement: You must take at least 2 hours of Ethics CPE per calendar year. The Ethics CPE hours count towards your total required hours.

Initial enrollment date is between 11/01/13 and 10/31/16

Note that if you missed your renewal date you are automatically placed on inactive status and have to apply to be reinstated.

* If your initial enrollment in beween November 1, 2019 and Deecember 31, 2019:

Your renewal is not due until 01/31/23.
Your CPE period is 11/01/19 - 12/31/22.
You still need to accumulate CPE hours, including 2 hours of ethics per calendar year. Your total CPE hours will be either 72+4=76 (November enrollment) or 72+2=74 (December enrollment) when you file your renewal.
This provision allows you to have a 3 year and 1 month or 3 year and 2 month cycle. This benefits you because you don't have to pay the EA renewal fee almost immediately after you receive your EA status.
