Chartered Tax Professional (CTP)

All FunCPE Tax courses are acceptable for CTP® CPE credit

Because this is a national certification, Chartered Tax Professionals in every state can receive credit for our courses.

CPE Requirements for CTPs

The CTP® certification was developed by The Income Tax School (The Peoples Income Tax, Inc.).

In accordance with The Income Tax School, a Chartered Tax Professional® must meet continuing education requirements similar to those that Enrolled Agents meet. If you are both an EA and a CTP®, you can use your EA courses to meet your CTP® education requirements.

To maintain your certification, you must meet the following CPE requirements:

Annually earn 15 hours total

  • 3 hours ethics
  • 3 hours federal tax law updates
  • 9 hours federal tax law courses (any subject related to federal tax law)

Accordingly, FunCPE offers ethics, tax law update and a wide variety of tax law courses.  Since our ethics courses are each 2 hours, you would need to take both ethics courses to meet the 3 hour requirement for CTPs.

We welcome Certified Tax Professionals to our site and would like to serve your needs better. Please contact us with any suggestions for new course topics for Certified Tax Professionals CPE specifically.

California Tax Education Council (CTEC)

FunCPE does not currently offer CTEC courses to California tax preparers.  We have partnered with our friends at TaxCourseCentral.com to offer students access to CTEC approved courses.

California law requires anyone who prepares (or assists with) tax returns for a fee, and is not an attorney, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA), to register as a tax preparer with CTEC.
