Forensic CPA (FCPA)

The Forensic CPA (FCPA) designation was developed in 2015 by the Forensic CPA Society.  In order to obtain the FCPA designation, you must be a licensed CPA, pass the 5-part FCPA exam ($250) and join the Forensic CPA Society ($150).

In order to renew this credential, you must complete 20 hours of fraud or forensic related CPE per year by the annual renewal date of your membership, and you must renew your member ship, currently $150/year.

FunCPE fraud courses are NOT acceptable for Forensic CPA (FCPA) CPE credit because the FCPA Society instituted a requirement that CPE providers must be members of NASBA in order for the credit to be accepted.  FunCPE is not currently a member of NASBA.

The Forensic CPA Society does have a subsidiary which is a CPE provider, Pony Express CPE, and courses can be taken from their provider or any other NASBA provider.

Forensic CPA Society CPE requirements

Annual CPE hours required

20 hours of fraud or forensic accounting related CPE per year for all members

Due date of renewal and CPE deadline

Your CPE due date coincides with your renewal date. For example, if your membership renewal date is August 1st of each year, your 20 hours of CPE should also be completed by that date.

Course subjects accepted for CPE credit

Any CPE course that relates to fraud or forensic accounting is acceptable.

CPE Providers accepted

You are not required to take your CPE courses through the Forensic CPA Society. You may take your courses from any NASBA CPE provider.

First year CPE

If you have successfully passed all 5 parts of our certification exam, you are exempt from fulfilling your 20 hours of CPE for the first year after certification.

For all other first year FCPAs, the CPE requirement includes the first year you are a member.

California Tax Education Council (CTEC)

FunCPE does not currently offer CTEC courses to California tax preparers.  We have partnered with our friends at TaxCourseCentral.com to offer students access to CTEC approved courses.

California law requires anyone who prepares (or assists with) tax returns for a fee, and is not an attorney, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA), to register as a tax preparer with CTEC.
