CPA-Texas

FunCPE is a registered Texas CPE Sponsor

Texas State Board of Public Accountancy requires CPE sponsors for TX CPAs to use the following language:

“We have entered into an agreement with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy to meet the requirements of CPE rules covering maintenance of attendance records, retention of program outlines, qualifications of instructors, program content, physical facilities, and length of class hours.

This agreement does not constitute an endorsement by the board as to the quality of the program or its contribution to the professional competence of the licensee.”

Texas requires CPE sponsors to register with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy

While many states either do not require any registration at all or accept sponsors registered with NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy), Texas is unique in that it requires CPE sponsors to register with the Texas State Board regardless of any other registrations.

If a sponsor is registered with NASBA, they must also register with the Texas State Board.

All CPE sponsors providing CPE to Texas CPAs must have a Texas provider number which is used for CPE reporting.

CPE sponsor registration information

FunCPE has been a registered Texas CPA CPE sponsor since 2001.   Texas CPE sponsors renew their registration annually.

Requirements include signing a CPE sponsor agreement, paying an annual registration fee and submitting a detailed list of courses offered during the prior year.

Texas CPE Sponsor review program

Texas is the only state that periodically audits CPE programs to evaluate compliance with course standards.

The CPE program review includes evaluation of:

  • Advance notification (course advertisement)
  • Program objectives
  • Individual learning objectives
  • Course content
  • Instructor qualifications
  • Course evaluations submitted by participants
  • CPE credit measurement accuracy
  • Review questions and final exam

FunCPE has successfully completed five CPE course audits since the Texas Sponsor Review program was established, in the following years:

2007  |  2010  |  2013  | 2016  |  2019

All five audits concluded that FunCPE is in compliance with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy Rules under Chapter 523 – Continuing Professional Education.
