American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS)
Membership issued and maintained by
The American Society of Tax Problem Solvers requires that members have one or more of the following professional designations:
- Enrolled Agents (EA)
- Certified Public Accounants (CPA)
For individuals who do not have one the above designations, ASTPS also offers an Associate Membership for non-licensed agents.
Continuing education requirements for ASTPS members:
None, beyond what is required to maintain your underlying license. To maintain your ASTPS membership, you must maintain your professional designation. Any specific CPE requirement is just related to maintaining the EA, CPA or Attorney designation. ASTPS has no additional CPE requirements.
Individuals in the Associate Membership category do not have any CPE requirements currently.
CTRS certification program also available
The American Society of Tax Problem Solvers also offers a desgnation of Certified Tax resolution Specialist (CTRS) to EAs, CPAs and Attorneys who pass an exam and agree to abide by the bylaws and professional ethics related to the CTRS certification program.

Renewal of ASTPS membership
All ASTPS memberships last for 12 months, with standard and a premium membership levels available.
FunCPE offers a variety of courses
While no specific CPE is required to maintain and renew the ASTPS membership, we do offer the CPE needed to maintain your Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant License.

History of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers
The ASTPS has over 1,300 members that specialize in representing taxpayers before the IRS and other taxing authorities. Founded in 2003 to provide IRS tax problem resolution training, ASTPS is a non-profit membership association.
